Het GTB Lab-gebouw wordt gebouwd als circulair bouwlaboratorium om circulaire bouwmethoden te testen en te demonstreren. Het is een innovatieplatform voor zero-waste bouwen, waarbij het credo is: Sloopafval is een ontwerpfout", zegt Elma Durmisevic, oprichter en bedenker van GTB Lab©.

Gebouwen die dynamisch en flexibel zijn opgebouwd uit herbruikbare materialen hebben een essentiële drijvende functie in de overgang naar een circulaire (bouw)economie. Ze dienen als tijdelijke opslag voor waardevolle bouwmaterialen. Bij circulair bouwen wordt geen baksteen of schroef weggegooid. Dit is het idee achter het Green Transformable Building Lab (GTB Lab©) in Heerlen.
