Green Design Biennale 2024
This year's Biennale will bring together green and circular experts, architects, industry, designers and researchers from 11 countries as well as students from 4 universities around the theme of green and circular design and digitization.
The aim of the Biennale is to capture and share the leading innovations and developments that will shape tomorrow's sustainable and circular world. At the center of the debate are concepts, strategies and tools for effective resource use within the built environment. This year's themes deal with digitalization, design for reuse and adoptive reuse, highlighting the transformation of historic buildings, and designing healthy and inclusive green and circular buildings and cities.
Green Design Biennale (GDB) was founded by architect and Prof. Dr. Elma Durmisevic, founder of EU Laboratory for Green Transformable Buildings in the Netherlands and Sarajevo Green Design Foundation, with the support of Dutch Embassy in Sarajevo, USAID and SIDA, UNDP, City of Mostar, Canton of Sarajevo, University of Twente, University of Sarajevo, University of Mostar, University of Dzemal Bjedic and EU Buildings as Material Banks consortium. Over the last 10 years, this green design event has become a dynamic platform for the presentation of innovative sustainable and circular design and engineering solutions through lectures, international workshops, exhibitions, thematic town hall meetings, scientific conferences and B2B. The Biennale brought together architects, urban planners, engineers and research institutions from 15 countries.Â
